It is important to remember that body image is not just about our weight or body shape. It can also be about things like:
Comparing one’s appearance to friends, family members or people on social media.
Feeling that our appearance (e.g., skin complexion and shade, hair and gender expression) is not represented or accepted in society.
Struggling to find clothes that fit and/or that we feel comfortable in.
Wearing baggy clothes that hide our appearance.
Struggling to accept or like unique appearance characteristics, such as hair, acne, birthmarks, scars, injuries or disabilities.
Feeling as though our body does not match our gender identity.
People making assumptions about us and what our bodies can do based on our appearance (e.g., skin shade, hair or body type).
